Swim Time Converter
Convert between yards, short course meters and long course meters using factors measured from real age-group swimmers.
Why this gives a different answer
Nearly every swim time converter uses the same decades-old factors, which come from meet management software. Those factors were derived from adult swimmers, and they apply a single multiplier to every stroke.
We measured the ratios instead. Same swimmers, both course types, same age, thousands of age-group athletes, median ratio per stroke, distance and gender. The result does not match the convention, and the gap is not random.
Use a converted time for planning and comparison. Meet entry and qualifying always use the time as actually swum, and if a coach asks for long course, give them a real long course time.
Conversion estimates only, not official times. Check your LSC or meet rules before relying on a converted time.
Time standards
Two different ladders, often confused: the age-group standards every USA Swimming family climbs, and what college rosters actually swim.
